Room Humidifier

My dorm room gets overheated in the winter and makes the air incredibly dry. My roommate and I both get horrible dry skin and sore throats. I was thinking that maybe getting a humidifier or vaporizer would help the situation, but I’m not sure which brand to get since I’ve never used either before. What are some good models that would be best for a small-ish dorm room that is generally very hot? I can’t spend over -40.

I recently got a Cool Mist Air Humidifier, maybe less than2 weeks ago,and my room has usually been at 65/66/67 for personal preference (I sleep really well if it is cold and my lizards don’t mind it and I don’t myself) but the Cool Mist is bringing my room down in temperature a lot. Currently my room is 61 degrees and it is 24 degrees outside – Winter. What do you suggest I do? It does help me breathe when sleeping. Thanks!

Hello, i have a humidifier and its really dry in my room, the humidity is at around 20 percent and i would like to raise this to 50 percent. Do you guys think i have to get a bigger humidifier, my room is only about 10 by 10. Also should i put warmer water in that way it might raise the humidity better.

I always have a stuffy nose in the morning and I heard that a humidifier helps relieve your stuffy nose. The question is, is it alright to have pets in your room when using the humidifier? I have parakeets but I was wondering if it was alright to use your humidifer with your pets in the room.

We burn a lot of wood through the winter so we also have a humidifier going. Is there anything out there that I can add to the water in the humidifier to scent the room? I didn’t want to just start pouring in liquid potpourri if it would somehow hurt the the humidifier.

I’m wondering if it can take the place of a space heater as well, and if not, then what’s the point?

The cool mist from the humidifier is making the room cooler with the cold temperatures. I want to use the heater to warm up the room. Is that ok?

I have a Gibson Dove and live in Los Angeles and for the past 5 months I haven’t used any sort of humidifier at all, but then I got worried because I read about peoples’ guitars cracking online so I got my mom’s big humidifier out of the closet and now my guitar is sitting on my bed with the humidifier set on high power below it. Is this good enough if I do this say weekly for like 30 minutes, or do I need the little humidifiers that go inside your guitar? Thanks you.

Does it do any good to run a warm air mist humidifier on low in a room that is also running air conditioning?

We have a cool mist humidifier. Should it be across the room on a high chest or next to the bed on a short bookcase?

Its says 4 feet from furniture and walls. Please, I have a twin bed, a crib, a dresser, a nightstand, and a rocking chair crammed into my room.

Does it REALLY have to be 4 feet away from everything??
Exactly, there isn’t a four foot spot (even when it IS clean)!

I have been using a cool mist humidifier in my 14 month old sons room and I feel its making the room quite cold…the room is drafty to begin with, and in the winter this humidifier is making the air even more cold in his room. I am almost tempted to go in for a warm mist humidifier. Is that a good idea? Also, does anyone know of a good brand that works?

I am using the humidifier because I feel the heater i in the house is making the air very dry and many times my son has a little blood in his mucous because of that. But the cold of the humidifier bothers me.

Any suggestuions to make my son more comfortable? I too can feel my nose stuffy and dry so it must be hard for my son.

Please help.

Im in west texas where its really dry, and im really from north texas so im not used to this. My nose is really dry and burning and stinging so i was wondering how to make the air in my room more humid WITHOUT a humidifier.

I am looking into getting a warm mist humidifier (or a combo warm/cool) for our 8 month olds bedroom. I have read mixed reviews on basically every single brand around and am not sure what to get now. I don’t have a ton to spend, but read it would be really good to help keep her nasal and lung passages nice and clear to keep her immune system up, as well as for her eczema and mild allergies. Does anyone have any good recommendations?

I have an aprilair humidifier installed on my forced warm air furnace. While it appears to work, in cold weather it does not seem to humidify enough and we supplement it with a room humidifier. Would the furnace humidifier produce more humidity if the fan were set to work all the time, instead of just when the heat goes on?

I use both non stop at night recently. My baby wakes up stuffy nosed so I got a cool mist humidifier it seems to help when the heater dries the air up…But is it dangerous for her? AND it is a pretty small room we share. I keep the humidifier clean. The heater is a handy 10 dollar from wal mart smallish compact but man it puts heat off, very handy can be a fan too.

I was just wondering if it would cost less to heat up a room if I ran a humidifier and kept the room humid.

I want to use a cool mist humidifier with a fan (pointed away from my baby) instead of the central air system in my apt (dirty, unreliable, too cold – makes baby sneeze/cough! jerk landlord won’t fix eventhough I prepaid a year’s worth of rent – will def move when lease it up).

My question – Is this a good idea (cool mist humidifier for baby’s room during the summer)? Will this work for cooling my baby’s room? Should I keep the window open for air circulation while the cool mist humidifier is on? She’s 4 months old and I want the best air quality for her this summer without her sweating or being cold. TIA!

im worried about my baby she coughs alot i taken her to tha doc already they said that shes may have a virus cause i was sick and now she is coughing???and she cries??she also has respitory problems she has inhalers????
